It says a solution of 37% formaldehyde stabilized w 12% meoh , which I assume to be an 88% formalin and 12% meoh, an I correct? Or would it be 100% formalin and 12% MeOH?

Would a reduction with Sodiumhydride also work, because NaBH4 is regulated where i live but i have found a trusted vendor for NaH

Again, try and use paraformaldehyde dissolved in methanol with the help of Sodium metal.

Wow, that is amazing.
I have lots of experience with dry ice baths, and lots of experience with throwing scoops of DI into the alcohol in the condenser , and it just exploding into the lab...dry ice and IPA.. ALCOHOL(OR ACETONE) into the dry ice works a lot better.
And hearing the stainless squeak and sound like it is ripping apart, just from the temp change ..
