Hi guys I wonder if any of you tried bromation with different substances instead of bromine or Hbr in my place they regulated chemicals so large quantities are hard to get
Wondered if it possible with Dibromomethane and hydrogen proxide for example

Yeah I did this with sodium bromide
To make Hbr and also I made bromine but my purity wasn't high...
So it reflected on my product

Use bromosucinimide and p-tsa in GAA, works wonders and is non toxic and no hbr

There is even a green iodination method qith CuO and elemental iodine in alcohol if i remember exactly ao muc options here for halogenation

Unfortunately, using iodine is not the most cost-effective method, but it is acceptable if these reagents are available.

Kbr reacts with h2o2 and you get Hbr so I think that will work too. You seem to already have h2o2 and kbr is easy to get and cheap

I did it with sodium bromide it was bit messy

well just add 4-methylpropiophenone in a flask than kbr and after H2O2, can t be that messy, all in one flask.

What are the scale for such reaction?

Depends on your H2O2 %. I am a beginner though, you should ask an expert if this works as expected and for a more detailed procedure.

for 100ml 4-methylpropiophenone you use 76 ml Hbr and 30 ml H2O2
