How bad did I fuck this up? Post gassing problems....

After gassing a sep funnel holding toluene containing free base MA with dry HCL I added 20ml of dH2O to the step funnel and allowed to separate. Upon testing the aq layer I noticed 2 things: my pH is still sitting in the basic range, despite repeated gassing. In addition, a small peice of tubing fell into the funnel and I didn't notice until the dH2O was added...

Should I just rebase and start over?

Evaporate your water layer if you still have it to be safe. Otherwise I think just dry your toluene/MA with some epsom salts and try to gas again and wait for the precip, shouldn't have to base and extract again. Did you get the snowfall upon gassing? That's your tell.

Sorry for the delayed response. Did still have aq layer, thank (insert higher power here if applicable). I was primarily concerned with the toluene perhaps dissolving the piece of tubing to some degree, as it was rather... Spongy when I pulled it from the funnel. Alls well that ends well, I evaped the aq layer, then dissolved in hot IPA, added cold acetone, let sit for about 12 hours and it did not taste of plastic I don't think....

Add acid to ph 6 and evaporate it on low,once turning to saltish form add acetone and evaporate the liquid,freeze for awhile to help solidify.
