Equipment:
- 250 ml Beaker
- Magnetic Stirrrer with heating/ stir bar
- 100 ml Syringe (with a large outlet Tip)
will be used as "charmin Filter" Column
- 250 ml Round-Bottom Flask with tiny am. of Ice Water
| used as Lid for the beaker, for nice Reflux- action |
- Evaping Dish for crystalization
Solvents / other Chemicals
25ml of dry Acetone (tech grade)
150 < 200ml of denatured Ethanol (94 - 96 % vol.)
20m ofl 2-Propanol (99%)

THE PROCEDURE !
First throw the WHOLE PILLS in to the Beaker,
add the ACETONE, this will break the Glue / Binders -
you`ll notice the Pills degrading to a gooey powder mass instantly.
swirl them a bit around in the Vessel,
now add the first dash of Ethanol (150ml) at Once.
Put the RBF with Cold Wather on top of Beaker,
heat your Plate up to 150*C , keep moderate constant stirring .
let the Pill -MASS dissolve completely / till Liquid looks like
Milk / all big chunks have become a fine powder, thats settling at Bottom.
Prepare the Big Food Syringe , to act as a Filtration Column:
1.) Use Charmin -like multi Layered Paper towel----> Seperate
one Layer off the single Sheet, now shred it in to a nice Pile
of fluffy little Tissue pieces by Hand...
pack those paper towel shreds in to the Syringe, after Pulling out its Plunger .
make a nice Filtration Layer ,
Compress it till the spaces are covered, but not to tight !
Solvate the Filtering Material with Ethanol generously....
NOW POUR THE HOT EXTRACTION Mass trough the
prepared filter syringe-column... ( let it suspend , clamped on to
lab -stand like you would do with common condenser etc.)
RINSE THE BEAKER with additional 50mls of EtOH
if filtering is complete --> ! USE THE SYRINGE PLUNGER
PUT IT BACK IN TO SYRINGE, where the " Pill -Mush "is now
on top of the charmin layer....
NOW PRESS EVERY LAST DROP OUT OF THE SYRINGE CONTENT
Pour the Milky X-tract in a large pyrex dish,
throw a stirbar in,
turn heat up to 250*C
keep a nice and steady but slow stirring,
let a portable strong handheld Fan blow Air over evaporating SURFACE
try to keep around 65*C temperature and gently boiling will quickly evape the Solvents
away!
<<<< VENTILATION OF WORKSPACE IS REQUIRED >>>>>>>>>>
lower the heat until you have a crude crystaline layer left in DISH
now flush WITH A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF DRY n COLD ACTEONE
USE SPATULA Scrape and finely divide de crystalline Mass in the Acetone, rinse it 2-3 times that way, COLLECT the Acetone Washings put em a side ( the antihistaminic is now outta the way....)
Now redissolve theCrude PSE HCL in a sufficient amount of isopropanol, until completely dissolved...
filter trough granulated active carbon / britta filter and fine filter paper..
let the PSE CRYSTALS SLOWLY FORM AT ROOM TEMP. , rinse them a final time with tiny bit of ACETONE.
YOU SHOULD NOW BE LEFT WITH ALMOST EVERY BIT OF SOURCE MATERIAL, IN A PERFECT
FORM OF MANY NEEDLE LIKE CRYSTALS 1

This is great advice that I try to tell people but is hard to explain to people doing these things for the first time. They need to focus on getting the procedure completed correctly and then they can worry about mechanical losses., you know?
I talk about having to do things with no equipment and improvise. My answer to this was to pack a turkey baster with a cotton ball and some magnesium sulfate and then I can feed it with gravity, or if I am impatient, I can blow it through the tube with my mouth 20-30ml at a time.
When you are working with 1g-3g amounts - this is to say, a single box of ephedrine/pseudo, and trying to get a batch of meth out of it. You can easily lose most if not ALL of your product with mechanical losses, even an acetone wash or re crystallization will wash away your goods and leave you wondering what went wrong. Working with these micro amounts will teach you proper techniques and lab etiquette quickly, as well as problem solving and trouble shooting skills. It is important to start here, and with control batches, and master them with confidence before you move on to larger scale batches.
