5MeODMT using STAB

Has anyone had any sucess in using STAB as the reducing agent for the synthesis 5MeODMT from 5MeO-Tryptamine?

As far as I heard so far, it's more suitable because of it's preference to reduce imines rather than carbonyls such as formaldehyde which is needed to form the imine. As there are two methyl groups to be placed formaldehyde should be around for enough that the double methylation occurs. I will use stab as soon as I will get things going.

It's just more economical to use NaBH4 than STAB. You need a lot of NaBH4 to create STAB and a larger molar amount of STAB compared to NaBH4. And since this reaction works well with NaBH4 why even bother?
