Uma opção um pouco mais simples para produzir metilamina seria reduzir o nitrometano CH3NO2 a metilamina CH3NH2 através de amálgama de Al/Hg.

CH3NO2 + H2 ---> CH3NH2+ H2O

Parece-me que há uma razão, porque utilizar combustível de aviões modelo para produzir metilamina in vitro é uma via comum... ou se degrada rapidamente ou... parece uma reação energética

Quente, pesado e duro! Agora dói-me o cérebro. Eu ia simplesmente apanhar todo o gás que escapasse do rxn num pouco de HCl e deitar fora o resto. Ou usar o insitu sem demora.
