C. R. Alder Wright in 1874 was the first to do it and look at us now so technically erowid copied it aswell

What is if I use glacial acetic acid? Will I get 6-monoacetylmorphine instead of diacetylmorphine?
And could I replace the chloroform with dichlormethane? I think so...

What is when I can't get my hands on acetic anhydride?
Could I place a soxhlet extractor between the flask and the reflux, filled with a extraction sleeve full of a molecular sieve and then use glacial acetic acid instead of acetic anhydride? The molecular sieve should absorb the water, so the glacial acetic acid should dehydrate and acetic anhydride should be produced during the reaction and you'll get diamorphine (heroin) by using glacial acetic acid instead of acetic anhydride. What do you think?

I'm curious. Why is ethyl alcohol,diethyl ether and HCL used together to convert the base into Hcl salt?
Whenever I converted the base into Hcl, I always just used a solution of diluted Hcl until the base dissolved, filterred out any remains, and then let the water/hcl evaporate which left me with heroin hcl.

What is the advantage of using ethyl alcohol and diethyl ether with the hcl to form heroin hcl please?

It seems H.hcl is not soluble in this solvent mixture and can precipitate so decreasing the production time a lot by skiping evaporations but im not 100% as i havent done this
