Cannabidiol (CBD) Isomerization to Psychoactive Cannabinoids

I was cooking CBD and by mistake added NAoh to the mixture, I think the isomerization stopped. 2 layers were formed, can someone tell me what was formed? Is it a good way to extract THC extract?

After 2 hours of isomerization, an oil was formed but it has an unpleasant smell and I don't know how to purify it.

When adding Naoh, the two phases separated and I think the reaction stopped. I tried to wash it in many ways but I can't get rid of that bad smell.

bases convert cbd(thc doesnt get converted) to some quinone derivatives. i belive diffrent solvents can be used to separate it from thc but i cant remember which also in what literature was it described also beacuse its green(i assume) some plant impurites also may be oxidised

What is better acetic acid or hydrochloric acid? I have an oil left with a disgusting smell that I make to clean it or extract the pure cbd loas from methanol

room temp toluene and p-toluenesulfonic acid can be used for nearly pure delta 9 and other solvents with heat result in delta 8

toluene may be hard to remove but, 44h(48h will result in slightly more conversion but about 10% delta8) stirred 10% ptsa and enough toluene to dissolve it, then workup

When you add water saturated in NAOH to counteract the acid, I cannot eliminate it all, and if I add too much water the upper phase turns black. How can I do the extraction? How do I eliminate the acid smell? I tried cleaning it with distilled water but it didn't work.

I need help with this please

What PH should I leave the THC? Can I use butane or toluene to purify THC?

Methods using catalytic amounts acids have established themselves better than in this topic. With pTSA 10% mol in DCM (delta-8) or with HCl 0,05% in ethanol (delta-9)

I think so, as long as your reagents are soluble. HCl can be used as an acid catalyst.

I love vape with TGK ... I think I can do:

1. We carry out isomerization in ethanol with acetic acid for 12-24h.
2. After - we evolve all ethanol and acetic acid
3. Pour the resin with a mixture of glycerol and propylene glycol, dissolving gravs completely
4. Pour into a comfortable jar and smoke

The issue of health safety - alcohol and acetic acid should clearly not be synthetic - only food (We make THC from the CBD using trembling and sugar, aahahhaha)

Experienced isomerization specialists - what do you think? Is it worth a try?

You do not have to evaporate it. You can dilute with water and separate the oil if you use ethanol.

If I use AcOH in concentration about of 70-80%, It get to start isomerisation?

Now.... I can't get or make 100% acetic acid((

Then you need 7.5 (70%) - 6.5 (80%) mL of acetic acid soln. per ~100mL of ethanol (approximately).
Excess ethanol is necessary for the reaction to go well.
The resulting solution will take 5-10 g of cbd powder, nothing more.
Heat up to 70*C and boil at least 2 hours.
Dilute with water and collect the resulting oil.

I try with 1g cbd in 10ml ethanol with ~1ml AcOH

I have wanted to do this for ages but have been holding off as I don’t have p-tsa, however, if d9 is generally done with a catalytic amount of HCl, that would be MUCH easier.
Is it literally a case of chucking it all in, letting it react for ages at RT (12-24h I think I heard), quenching, extracting?

Seeing as THC is by far the drug I use the most, it would make sense for edibles or whatever. Doubt I would want to vape it though. Never was a huge fan of vaping distillate as it just screws my tolerance.

If you use HCl for conversion, then heating is required.
