The site was used to manufacture narcotics using nitazenes, an opioid anesthetic that can have 500 times more potency than morphine, even more harmful than fentanyl. The chemical substance, with high psychotropic power, was illegally imported. This was the first seizure of nitazenes in Brazil with proven use for the manufacture of narcotics. Its presence had already been detected before in Europe and in Australia.
During the action, large volumes of marijuana, crack cocaine, nitazenes, as well as precursor chemical solvents, detailed notes on narcotic production systems, precision scales, personal protective equipment (PPE) and materials used in the manufacturing process were seized.
Two individuals were arrested at the scene with their hands in the dough. Vehicles, cash and other items related to the operation of the laboratory, which supplied a network for the production and distribution of drugs, were also seized.
Among the drugs manufactured at the site was the substance known as K2, or synthetic marijuana, composed of chemicals that simulate the effects of THC, but with a much higher potential for dependence and serious health risks for users.
This is also the first time that a laboratory has been discovered in Brazil that produces K drugs with the addition of nitazene, which marks a significant advance in research on the use of that substance in synthetic narcotics. The Federal Police are continuing with investigations to identify others involved and dismantle possible connections between the criminal organization and national and international trafficking networks.
