2. You don't need to replace potassium permanganate. It's often readily available as a water purification chemical. Look at web shops specialized in water treatment for home use.

3. Methcathinone is not related to methamphetamine. it's not an amphetamine, it's a cathinone. The prefix "meth" comes from the presence of a methyl group in the molecule, not from any relationaship to methamphetamine.
The effect is often compared to methapmpetamine, because they're both stimulants. But many times people use the comparison to explain how different it is from methamphetamine.
