Did you check the Ph in the mixture?

crushed pills
dissolved in water, warmed up filtered and added 1NaOH to 12+
I measured it with a phmeter and phpaper
add xylene and used separate funnel, I drained the lower water layer
I kept the xylene and I turned on the gas
now it occurred to me that I should have done those xylene moves about 3 times and I did it only once, I don't remember exactly, it was a long time ago
