Hi
I am getting a light to medium orange colour mix once I dissolve the 2bromo4methylpropiophenone in either DCM or nmp. This is affecting the amination stage. When I start adding the ma40 the entire solution turns green on nmp and in DCM it gives a dark green layer floating on top.
I do not have sodium thiosulphate. Is there Nothing else I can do to proceed. I am having a tough time with later separation because of this.
One time I remove some orange part and added extra DCM, added the methylamine aqueous. The green layer did form but upon heating and leaving it for a while I was able to get a slightly yellow milky colour solution.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am using herrbars method and using nmp plus DCM as solvent.
Wondering if heating the solution to boil off some DCM will help and that might take away some or most of the excess bromine .
Appreciate any help on this
