I bought my safrole from a commercial source.
I added the 50ml of safrole to RBF along with 3% KOH heated it to 180C for an hour do drive of water.
then heated it to 140C overnight.
then I vacuum distilled the iso.
used that in puffered performic but didn't cause an exothermic reaction nor a yellow color change even after stirring for 24h at RT.
is there is any way to isomerize the safrole without using vacuum overnight?
I saw the method on here which uses 96% ethanol but the yield is low + it's not documented in any resource + it's not clear.
Can you help me please?
thank you in advance!!

You need confirmation that it is SAFROLE

lots of it is fake. Even from commercial sources

What is the density of the oil.

Density is one, Smell real safrole is... different, the fake stuff smells like bubblegum or winter green, real safrole kinda border anise but not quite, its a unique smell. If the factory is able to provide an SDS it will tell you if it has it
