Alright guys, this is an easy one. I know methylene chloride is usually preferred, but can ethyl acetate be used to extract MDMA freebase? Same I guess with MDP2P? I know there are better solvents, but I am just wondering if it is still a decent option.

Since you usually extract this substance from basic solution ethyl acetate is not the best solvent of choice, it will undergo partial hydrolysis

Ok, thank you so much, it makes sense.

Asking because I saw a video about some small scale mdma chemists, and they used a 5 gallon bucket as a reaction vessel, and then extracted the MDMA freebase with xylene, all in the 5 gallon bucket.

I though xyxlen is incompatible with hdpe plastic, but I guess the short time the xylene is in contact with the plastic makes it less likely to remain in the xylene, and thus the mdma.

It's compatible for short to medium time, it will just eat the plasticizers, deforming the container after a while
