3-CMC Synth for a Newbie

Hi Everyone! I'd like to synth 3-cmc for personal use. I've become quite fond of it, but can no longer obtain it (constant fraud / poor substitutes). I have a little bit of organic chemistry experience, such as simple acid base extractions, etc. I've perused this forum and there are several posts regarding this synth, but I couldn't find a solid writeup, Just dead threads and links to other posts that were not easy to follow for a newb like myself.


Here are the reagents I've accumulated so far for my project:
2-Bromo-3'-chloropropiophenone (liquid form)
Dichloromethane
Acetone
Methylamine
HCL 32%

Can someone lead me to a good writeup or possibly video?

Also, I anticipate I'll make mistakes the first or second time I'll go through this process. So to not waste my reagents as I practice, what are some good minimal amounts to start of with, specifically with the 2b3c? Can I start as low as 5 or 10 ml ? Then adjusting the rest via molar weight?

Does 2b3c react with DCM? Is that why DCM should not be used? Is Toluene a better solvent? If not Toluene, what other solvent should be used?

There is no clear explanation on the 2b3c conversion on this forum, iv searched through al but the only thing written is that Its the same conversion as 2b4m..

Genuinely curious, what is the appeal of 3cmc? I've been looking for real 4mmc across Europe this year (last year was no problem) and have only found 3cmc which is a pretty nasty compound in all the different batches i've tried. What am I missing about the appeal of this one?

3cmc is still legal in nederland and is a lot in all europe 4mmc is much more hard found

I enjoy it only In very small microdosing quantities. ~30mg. It's closely related to a popular antidepressant Wellbutrin. I don't think it's a good substance to get seriously geeked on.

Well according to other sources, DMSO would be a good solvent to use. I will try it and report back.

so, my experience is,
100g 2b3c
300dcm
200methylamin40% aqua
3 hours stirring
I use a sealed glas 1,8l, put foil between lid and glass so that nothing smells or gas escapes.
After reaction took place
2 times washing with dest.water
1 time extract water phase with dcm
put into rm,
add same amount fresh water into rm
put on magnetic stirrer
acidificaction drop by drop till ph6, about 50-55ml HCI,
after that take the water layer,evaporate , let it crystallize, takes some time
opt. rotovap till 50% of the water is gone, then air drop


ethylacetat is possible, takes only 20 min, no heating necessary, rest same prosedure like with dcm

What is the efficiency of this method ?

Is it possible to transfer it to plastic barrels to scale up to kilograms of finished product if so how to do it ?

he say he get 200g form 1l 2b3ch is real low %.
in poland they made on tons and somebody say u need 2 solvents for an excellent yield of 70%+
plastic barrels can be filled with a maximum of 2/3 of the volume of 100 l barrels can be made up to a few kg and the crystallization time on a large scale is a few weeks

1 Liter is 1,5kg, but i dont know about 2 solvents, 100g = 20g crystals ,yes it is very low and frustrating but if you read the forum, everbody says it is easy, same way as 4-mmc, but never saw that someone really explains how he gets the final product.
