Wasabi Wallet is a noncustodial, privacy-focused client for storing Bitcoin cryptocurrency. Available for PC only (Windows, Linux, macOS). Versions for Android and iOS were considered by the developers, but their release "is possible only when mobile operating systems become sufficiently developed to support all the functions Wasabi Wallet needs."

Cold devices (Coldcard, Ledger Nano S) are also connected to it. At the same time, interaction is allowed only with bech32 addresses (not Legacy).

Bech32 is a new Bitcoin address format that speeds up the process of decoding and generating QR codes. Saves space on the blockchain. Using such addresses (starting with bc1 characters instead of the traditional 1 or 3), together with Segregated Witness, reduces the transaction fee by 20-40%.

It includes built-in Tor, and by default all traffic between clients and the server goes through it, so IP addresses are hidden, and user's privacy is respected. Under normal circumstances, the Wasabi wallet never leaves the Tor onion network and never uses Tor output relays, greatly reducing the threat of a network attack.

CoinJoin is a protocol that enhances the privacy of bitcoin transactions. With it, multiple parties can send funds in a single transaction without the risk of theft. It was first proposed in 2013.

The CoinJoin protocol allows multiple Bitcoin clients, after agreeing with each other, to create a co-signed transaction that will contain funds from the clients' wallets. This action mixes the balances into one total. This allows you to achieve anonymity, but not send funds to other services, that is, reduce the risk of theft. Anonymity is achieved through careful selection of input and / or output values.

Download, install and verify signatures.

Official website: https://www.wasabiwallet.io

Tor mirror: http://wasabiukrxmkdgve5kynjztuovbg43uxcbcxn6y2okcrsg7gb6jdmbad.onion
EdUENQZhVf

Download pages: https://www.wasabiwallet.io/#download

Or from github: https://github.com/zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi/releases
PykS3hcUBd

Although there is automatic signature verification in Windows and macOS, it is still recommended to manually verify the PGP signatures of the downloaded package using the PGP public key zkSNACKs 6FB3 872B 5D42 5992 0797 8563 4832 8949 861E before installing Wasabi. This protects you from malicious phishing sites providing you with loop back wallet software. If you have personally verified the zkSNACKs public PGP key 6FB3 872B 5D42 5992 0797 8563 4832 8949 861E and are familiar with Web of Trust, please consider signing it.

Windows.

Download the .msi installer of the latest Wasabi release:

KCrqawUPte

Install Wasabi by double-clicking the .msi and following the GUI instructions.

Make sure that you see this window that verifies the installer was signed by zkSNACKs Limited. Manual PGP verification is optional, as the package is signed and verified automatically on Windows.
Qh01IPA8gp

Wasabi will be installed to your C:\Program Files\WasabiWallet\ folder. You will also have an icon in your Start Menu and on your Desktop. After the first run, a data folder will be created. Among others, here is where your wallet files and your logs reside.

MacOS.

Download the .dmg package of the latest Wasabi release:

RXoHtzxTyD

Double-click .dmg to open it.

Install Wasabi by dragging it into your Applications folder.

At first startup, there will be a pop-up that Wasabi was downloaded from the internet. Click on Open and restart Wasabi.

PGP Verification.

If you have already imported zkSNACKs' PGP public key, then jump to step 4.

1. Get GnuPG.

2. Copy zkSNACKs' PGP public key into a new TextEdit document and saving it as zkSNACKsPubKey.txt. Before saving, you need to go to Format / Make Plain Text (otherwise, TextEdit will not be able to save it as a .txt file).

Open Terminal and go to the folder in which you saved the zkSNACKsPubKey.txt file and import the PGP public key with sudo gpg --import zkSNACKsPubKey.txt. This should return the output: key 856348328949861E: public key "zkSNACKs <[email protected]>" imported.

Download the latest Wasabi release, both the .dmg package and the corresponding .asc signature file.

3. In the Download folder, run sudo gpg --verify Wasabi-0.0.0.0.dmg.asc. If the message returned says Good signature from zkSNACKs and that it was signed with Primary key fingerprint: 6FB3 872B 5D42 5992 0797 8563 4832 8949 861E, then the software was not tampered with since the developer signed it.

The output from the verify command may contain a WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature! You can ignore this, but if you want to fully verify your download, you need to ask people you trust to confirm that the key fingerprint belongs to zkSNACKs.

After the first run, a data folder will be created. Among others, here is where your wallet files and your logs reside.

Debian and Ubuntu.

If you have already imported zkSNACKs' PGP public key, then jump to step 2.

1. Download zkSNACKs' PGP public key here, and then import it with gpg --import PGP.txt.

Verify that the fingerprint is 6FB3 872B 5D42 5992 0797 8563 4832 8949 861E by running this command gpg --list-keys zKSNACKs.

2. Download the latest Wasabi release, both the .deb package and the corresponding .asc signature file.
VoiMe0ZkuI

3. Verify the signature in the Download repository with gpg --verify Wasabi-0.0.0.0.deb.asc.

[GUI] Install by double-clicking and follow the GUI Instruction.

[CLI] In the Download repository, run the command sudo dpkg -i Wasabi-0.0.0.0.deb.

After the first run, a data folder will be created. Among others, here is where your wallet files and your logs reside.

Other Linux distributions.

1. If you have already imported zkSNACKs' PGP public key, then jump to step 2.

AXauLq06ln

4. Extract the archive while keeping the file permissions: tar -pxzf Wasabi-0.0.0.0.tar.gz.

5. Run Wasabi by executing ./wassabee.

Launching and creating a wallet.

After starting, press the green button if the following appears:
NjcBqyQnWk

Then you will be greeted by such a window, at the very bottom you can see the synchronization, it can last for 3-5-10 minutes:
InRi0Lwm5a

But you can create a wallet right away. Pay attention to the left column, the creation of the wallet is located in the "Generate Wallet" tab:
Yg4tB7AcPm

Give it a name in the "Wallet Name" line and set the password to "Choose a password". Attention! You cannot recover your wallet if you forget your password. Set a strong password, but one that will not be forgotten.

Click "Next":
7qzvBP8oye

We see 12 numbered words. This is our seed. Rewrite the seed in the same order as on the screen and save it in a safe place. Try not to keep this seed phrase on a device that has an internet connection.

When you have written it out, click on a checkbox and click "Generate Wallet". Your wallets are listed in the column on the right side of the Wasabi window.

Recieving Bitcoin.

Select our wallet, enter the password and click "Load Wallet".
Wol4ODcTub

Login was successful.
EsRgKvpGWl

Open the "Recieve" tab and click on the "Generate recieve address" button. We see the "Label is required" error. It is mandatory to sign every address in Wasabi. This label will only be visible to you and is needed so that you understand what each address is used for.

For example, we signed it "Getting BTC from the exchange".

The address was successfully created and copied to the clipboard.

Now you can send it to receive Bitcoin. Right-click on the line and select "Copy Address" if you want to copy the address later. Here you can also change label.
GC2zTwEj1D

Go to the "History" tab and wait for the transaction to appear here. When BTC are sent to you, the transaction will be displayed right here.

Sending Bitcoin.

Open the "Send" tab and insert the recipient's address into the "Address" field. In the "Label" field, you can specify a comment to the translation (it will be visible only to you, you need it for your convenience).
BIJvKHdP3n

Put a check mark on "Select All".

Enter the number of BTC to send or "Max" to send all funds you have.

Move the "Fee" slider, choosing the optimal time for confirming the transaction (from 20 minutes to 4 days). The faster, the more expensive. The amount in dollars is written in brackets, which will be taken by the Bitcoin network as a commission.

Confirm the operation by entering the password in the "Password" field, and send it by clicking the "Send Transaction" button.

CoinJoin.

A CoinJoin is a special Bitcoin transaction where several peers get together to literally join their coins in a single transaction. They collaboratively build a transaction where each of them provides some coins as inputs, and fresh addresses as outputs. The concept has been around since the early days of Bitcoin, and it was formalized by the great Greg Maxwell.

The goal is to gain privacy by breaking the link of which input "pays" which output so that any of the outputs cannot be attributed to the owner of the input. Therefore, it is very important that the values of the outputs are exactly equal.

Wasabi enables trustless (meaning nobody can steal) and private (meaning even the coordinator cannot spy) Schnorr blind signature CoinJoin according to the ZeroLink fungibility framework.

Click on the CoinJoin tab and select coins for mixing by clicking the checkbox. Notice that it is not yet possible to CoinJoin from a hardware wallet, the keys must be "hot" on your computer.
2oLlTu0fBd

Select up to items from the list by clicking the checkbox in the coin list. The selected value must be above the minimum required amount, currently roughly 0.1 bitcoin.ry not to select coins with different privacy shields (different anonymity sets) to CoinJoin in the same round. This is because the coins with the higher anonymity set will lose some of their anonymity set, to equal the anonymity set of the lower ones. The best option would be to select coins with the same anonymity set.

Specify anonymity set target by clicking the shield in the "Target" block. You can also change the value in the settings. The higher, the better.
50UK1SYXsT

Enter your password and click Enqueue Selected Coins.

Now, wait until the CoinJoin is complete. The round starts either as soon as 100 peers have registered their coins, or after one hour has elapsed since the last round. From now on, there is no more user input required. Just leave Wasabi running in the background of your computer.

Started using this wallet and I like it.

A question I couldn't find a good answer to : After coinjoin how long should I expect it to stay in "Waiting for confirmed funds" mode?

Anyone have experience with this?

Wasabi wallet is horrible for OpSec purposes, I just don't understand why it is "reviewed" (read, "advertised") here. Wasabi has partnership with Chainalysis company which does a background check on your btc coins before they are accepted into the Wasabi's mixer. Furthermore, Wasabi's mixer is flawed with de-mixings occurring in the past which literally got people into trouble with law enforcement.

If you _must_ use Bitcoin, use Samourai Wallet Whirlpool (also available on Sparrow Wallet).

OR JUST USE MONERO.

Found out in the US WasabiWallet is not just banned but illegal(!) One of the first times  I was scammed on the Darknet was after my PayPal account I've been using for over a decade was perma-banned.. I had to send a bunch of messages and eventually had to sit on the phone with them multiple times to get my account unlocked, it was because I had used the CoinJoin feature...
