It can if you methylate it to methamphetamine for sure which is a thing that can be done

I was looking at methyl iodide, but even wiki mentions formation of the N,N-dimethyl- amphetamine and N,N,N-trimethylamphetammonium salt from this reaction. This did seem to simple as everyone would be doing it, makes more sense that expensive reagents and processes are needed.
