Synthesis of 1-naphthoyl chloride

Reaction scheme:

Synthesis:
1. In the reactor, equipped with a stirrer, a thermometer, reflux condenser and a drip funnel, add 600 g POCl3.
2. In the drip funnel poured 1000 g 1-naphthoic acid and 500 ml dimethylformamide.
3. The reaction mass is heated to 100 *С. Within 30 minutes, the mixture was added from a drip funnel.
4. Then the reflux condenser was changed to straight condenser and distill the forming propionyl chloride.
5. The resulting 1-naphthoic acid chloride is distilled at 35 mm pressure at a temperature of 190 *С. 1170 g 1-naphthoic acid chloranhydride was obtained (yield 93%).

Red coloured product and waste is solidified. The product is correct or it is something else.

But the yield is very low. With 100g Naphthoic acid it only formed 18g of product.
Actually there were two things.
(1) added 30g extra DMF to dissolve Naphthoic acid properly.
(2) due to unexpected reason the reaction mass was left overnight.

You can use many other reagents but than final product is not JWH-018. It will produce other series of cannabinoid.
