Hi. Can someone please advise the best and safest way to prepare a 40% aqueous methylamine from methylamine HCL? What are the safety precautions when doing this.

how to make it by adding a concentrated solution of naoh in methylamine hcl and heating slowly to a temperature of 60% and the steam is run with a hose in a cold water solution.

Just add NaOH and the methylamine gas keep bubbling trought distiled water and by weight and by volume you can find % of your solution. And if its higher then 40% just add water.
