Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) for synthesis of 4MMC

Since 4-Methylpropiophenone is not easily available to me, I started poking around. I found an old Rhodium article on Erowid that used KMnO4 to make what they were just calling Methcathinones or MCAT. The limiting factor is the use of pseudephedrine.

I'd really like to find a source for pure pseudephedrine.

Anyway, since Potassium Permanganate is easy to source, I wanted to ask if anyone had knowledge of this approach?

I did this reaction once or twice 25 or so years ago , and im pretty sure i got it off rhodium too !! Rhodium is getting old ! Honestly your product can get lost in the huge dilution of water this reaction must have but it works and permanganate is easily obtained . I found the effects of Methcathinone very weak , then again it most likely wasnt fully reacted and still psedeo !! Its a good beginners reaction but good luck finding the pseudephedrine.--

No one want to sell ephedrine or pseseudoephedrine anymore, even the Chinese are afraid. If someone try to sell to you it can be a scam. Just brew or synthesize your own from benzaldehyde

No supplier in China can supply ephedrine or pseudoephedrine because it is a prohibited product, and if he can supply it, he must be a liar.
