Hi all,

I am curious about the formation of oximes, but I am wondering if anyone with experience can chime in on how to remain safe when adding a base, as I understand hydroxylamine is explosive, I won't be using large amounts, and I'll probably use a weaker base if that increases safety?

Some tips of how to handle it would be appreciated, besides the obvious, PPE, Fumehood, etc.

Main concern is a potential explosion.

Hydroxylamine hydrochloride (NH2OH·HCl) is a corrosive and potentially hazardous substance. It is important to take appropriate safety.

1. Use a suitable base, such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, and add it slowly and in small amounts to the hydroxylamine hydrochloride solution.

2. Monitor the temperature of the reaction mixture and use a cooling bath if necessary to prevent negative effects
