Hello, I was just searching for different ways on how ephedrine can be extracted from ephedra sinica, and I came across some guy who’s got a friend from Afghanistan, where they allegedly use this method:

ingredients:

1000 grams of ephedra powder
5000 ml of water
3000 ml of gasoline
100 grams of table salt
20 grams of sodium hydroxide
100 ml of concentrated H2SO4
1000 ml of xylene

steps:

1) Soak the powder in a mixture of water, gasoline, salt and soda for 24 hours.
2) Strain the solution and transfer to the tank.
3) Add sulfuric acid, salt and xylene.
4) Heat at a temperature below 50 degrees celsius for 2-3 hours.
Final:
Seperate and dry the sediment containing ephedrine.

Has anyone ever heard of this method? Should it theoretically work?
