It is fresh situation for about 1,5 month ago.

In one little city in Russia, a guy lets name him "Ivan"
Was into cooking business, and preparing big lab with monthly turnover about 40 kilo of 4-mmc , amphetamine and alpha pvp.
How his arrest operation was done:
Federals, after detecting direct place of the lab, using one of agents, broke Ivan's car breaks, not for injuring, to make him stay at city for a time.
Then at the same day after Ivan get to the mechanic, operative group break lab door (it was medium 1 floor house in village) and made photos off finished production, precousors, and equipment.
Ivan was lying on the ground in front of his lab within 2 hours.

But, how he get caught?
there is 3 teories:
1. Neighbor was policeman, and he knows how methylamine smells like.
2. Tracked precousors.
3. (The most likely) Federal agents is monitoring real estate market.
Who and where rent/buy property.
Ivan already have a house at big city, nice car and a job, and suddenly he buy non-perspective house in 130km from him.

Moral: think about your steps ahead, trust intuition, and care about your safety more than of anything else.

More probable .... They tracked the phone someone became a snitch because they caught him no with kg mmc and said who his supplier is.... They traced the precursors from China and threw gprs into a barrel.... Or the smell made the neighbors suspicious

russian special forces were spamming videos of labs raids, ones they registered on "hydra" as a precoursor supplier, then all shops that buy from them got problems with labs at the same time.
they were selling phenylacetic acid in metallic buckets with trackers in it, or after 2-3 successful deals, operators were tracking dead drops with bk4 and keeps it to the lab

How can some work in that kind of environment? I will never understand. That is a small space with no ventilation. Making 40kg of whatever using Methylamine with neighbors around is very unwise. Methylamine stinks more than the operator realizes. As a beginner, I have been guilty of this as well. Even with a house in the woods using a walk in fume hood (using patio doors) with a 10,000 CFM fan we still stank of methylamine. We would leave the area and go to a convenience store on the way home. 30 mins away and people would look at us puzzled and with strange faces. We eventually realized that we stank of methylamine when we smelled our used clothes the next day. We are talking about 1.5-2L of Methylamine 40% in a ridiculously ventilated area.

You get easily used to the smell. The other one that can alert people around you is HCl gas. Those are the riskiest chemicals for potential detection.

PNicoleDiluted citric acid in a spray bottle generously used removes all methylamine stink from rooms and clothes, even the hands if needed. Long-time purification of rooms to remove all traces of illicit workings there can be done by using an ozone generator, several day-long treatments are advised to make it sure. But better this then having the property condemned (what is only additional punishment without any real reason but to punish you and to put fear into the neighbors and whoever hears about it on the media, fear of the evil drug-cooks poisoning everybody. Bullshit. Three times Ozone and done with. Assholes)
I cannot imagine how you ever can get used to the stink, it causes nausea in me and really really bad.
